Honda Civic Concept Heading to Detroit

Motor City, Detroit is the happening place to be when concept cars head into town. There are rumors that Honda Motor Co. - the Japanese auto maker - will show off their next-generation Civic at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

At least, they'll show off a "concept" that is reportedly very close to what it will look like when it goes on sale in the Spring of 2011, according to John Mendel, Honda's executive vice president of sales in the U.S., in an interview last week.

The vehicle will be among many other Honda vehicles, along with cars from every auto maker big and small throughout the world, at the 2011 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) - another name for the Detroit Auto Show. It's the largest North American car show of the year.

Honda's Civic, the top compact model the U.S. did see a slight downward slump this past year, after seeing huge sales numbers earlier in the year - in part thanks to the government "Cash-for-Clunkers" incentive.

Honda is introducing their redesigns of the Odyssey minivan, which goes on sale late this month, and the Civic next year to bolster sales.

Honda showed the Odyssey at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show as a concept vehicle. Other than the LED headlamps and standard auto-show 20-inch wheels on the concept car, the real one is an exact replica of the show car.

Schedule a test drive of the all new Honda Odyssey, and check out the latest on Civic now at Motorcars Honda - 2953 Mayfield Rd., Cleveland Heights, OH 44118.
