Honda will be introducing the Fit Hybrid at the 2010 Paris Motor show next month, but we have some of the latest news for you right here.
The new gas-electric version of the Fit, Honda's widely popular hatchback, is getting a lot of press. It is called the Jazz overseas and has become one of the fastest selling Honda's on the road globally.
Available next year, you can be a proud owner of a green Fit hybrid. Fit hybrid will use the same powertrain as the Insight hybrid, also from Honda. Starting off with a 1.3-liter I-4, a continuously variable transmission, and an electric motor between the two.
The new Fit hybrid will have 98 horsepower and 123 pound-feet of torque, which is a slight decline over the 117 hp, 106 pound-feet delivered by the Fit's standard 1.5 liter, I-4.
The Fit hybrid's fuel economy and emissions figures have not been finalized, but reports suggest it will come in around 40/43 mpg (for city/highway).
A Fit with a traditional gasoline combustion engine receives 28/35 mpg rating with an automatic transmission.
We can expect Honda's official fuel economy test results to be released closer to the Paris Motor Show, along with it's official price tag. There are also rumors on that, with a base price of roughly $17,800.
